Small mouth 2.5 lbs. yes, that’s a trolling motor on my kayak. Comes in real handy when fighting River current and tides at Sandy hook. Also allows me to troll for stripers, blue fish and false albacore

Nice fish Mike. Not sure about where I live now but in California if you put a trolling motor on a kayak you had to register it and pay the fees. Is it like that where you are?

Hi Mike and thanks for the reply. I'm kinda new to fishing and would like to know if you've ever fished from the beach or even close to shore at Sandy Hook. If so, was the fishing ok?

Hey, send us a picture of the mounting of trolling motor on the Yak. I've been looking for a proven method for mine. Getting older and the current getting home from Mosquito Lagoon is starting to get tough. Thanks in advance.

I fish the sandy hook rip from shore. It’s out at the very end of sandy hook. You can also surf fish along any of the beaches. I like the beach at parking lot C. You can also fish the bay side. There is several access spots across from some of the parking lots. The spots get crowded with beach goers though. The tides can be big and several large sand bars become exposed at low tide and are very popular spots for people to hang out at. I usually do very well for fluke along just about any sandy beach. Fishing buck tails and gulp grubs. Out at the rip you could catch stripers, blue fish and if you’re lucky maybe some bonita, false albacore. All these are seasonal fish and have runs in the spring and fall. Throw metal jigs, buck tails and large swim baits. You can go to several websites too for info

I've surf fished Sandy Hook many times. Been a while now but I used to go there regularly to fjsh blues and stripers from the beach.

Hey, guys if anyone makes out to sandy hook today make sure you post an update on the fishing. Specially out at the rip. I’m planning on going out there Monday and Tuesday.
