I just bought a new fishing arsenal and have decided which kinds of line and which #test I am using for each. However, I cannot decide on which brands to buy.
Is there really that big of a difference between brands?
If so, which brands are best for each of the three types of line?
Mono? Fluoro? Braid?

Yes, there are observed differences in different brands of line, however they are pretty subjective.
A line that works great for a guy running baitcaster rigs out of a boat, may not be the best for a guy with spinning tackle walking the banks.
Your technique and targeted species is going to dictate what line is “best”- but even then... the “best” line might be too expensive for you to replace and respool as often as is necessary for peak performance.
My personal line of choice is Triline mono (just about the cheapest stuff out there), and Suffix 832 braid (pretty expensive) But I’ve spooled up lots of Spiderwire and other line too- just depends on what I have on hand or can get for a good price.

For Mono I prefer maxima ultra green, for fluoro i prefer FC sniper, and for braid I prefer the Daiwa J braid. In my opinion there are several good fluorocarbons out there, and several good braids. Be careful with your straight mono, there is a lot of junk out there. Berkeley big game is a decent second option.

My preferences: Braid- Power Pro or Sufix 832. Spiderwire is garbage.
Mono: Sufix Siege is awesome.
Fluoro: Dont use it much but from what ive read Seaguar red label and abrazx are good options. Berkeley vanish is awful.
