OK, this may be a dumb question, and I don't know if it really matters. I'm a lefty, and cast with my left hand. Which hand would most southpaws reel with? I see people casting/reeling right-right, left-left, and mixed. As an ol Spaced baseball guy, I'm just curious.
I've also wondered about the riding hand of a bronc or bull rider, but that's for another forum. Hope your day's going well. Windy as can be here on the Space Coast.

Welcome to the Forum, wtyson. Thank you for filling everything out correctly. With a spinning rod or a casting rod, you want to throw with your left and reel with your right. However, be careful when you order a bait cast reel so that your handle is on the correct side.

I’m right handed. Cast right, reel left. The rod Never changes hands. Always found it to be easier. To each his own I guess.

Amen to that. Right handed: holds Rod in right hand , reels with the left hand. Makes sense to me. Why change hands?

What ever feels natural for you.
Everyone is different, I cast from the right side then switch and reel with my right hand, conventional reel.
On a spinning reel I cast from the right side and reel with my left hand.
I'm just weird I guess.
I write with my left hand and throw a baseball with my right, I'm all screwed up. LOL.

No, that's what most right handed fisher people do.

Glad to be here. That's how I do it, and it makes sense. Thanks. Always enjoy seeing the pix, conversations, and humor here. Quite a cast of characters.

As a lefty, I've been a bit screwed up for a long time! When I was a kid, it was tough to find a baseball glove for a southpaw. Somehow, managed to get one, and ended up coaching 25 years of HS/Jr College. Now, my time is spent looking for a fishing hole.

LOL, I do everything exactly like you listed.
However, I can flycast with either hand.

My grandfather forced me to use my right hand when I was little. Now it just seems normal for me except for writing.
