Walleye fishing in a moving creek

Looking for ideas on fishing for walleye in a creek I fish. The creek is actually deep enough for boats and wide enough for a number of boats to pass each other.
I fish from shore and in my kayak. The current is quite fast during the early season and I have been using heavy jigs tipped with bait fish. It works, but the current moves so fast it makes it hard to keep the jig in holes where the wallleye are.
Any better ideas out there?

Sorry, can't help you, but maybe you can help me?
What exactly are you using? I never caught a walleye and want to go this weekend. I am fishing the new River and herd they are there.

I am using 1/2 to 5/8 ounce jigs. Was using real minnows, but have found Berkley gulp minnows work just as well.
When I had a boat, I would use a bottom bouncer and a spinner. Forgot about using that technique. I will definitely try it though floating down the river in my kayak. It might even work casting from the shore..

Have you ever tried fishing with the current. Your jigs will bump in and out of the pools.
They will come after it, believe me.
I can send you pics of ten lb.er's caught drifting. you may need a heavier boat that does not move so fast.

Actually I do drift with the current in my kayak. By using a drift sock, I am able to keep the speed of the drift down to a manageable level.
Getting jigs caught on logs is what seems to hamper me.
I should have remembered to use a bottom bouncer.
Will definitely be trying that in May , when the season opens.
