Here in central Florida freshwater country I’m having a mudfish problem. They interrupt both my bass and catfishing. I don’t want the mudfish, I want a nice catfish for the pan. What’s the best catfishing tips y’all got?

Have you tried putting your sinker on bottom with your hook 2 to 4 feet above it. If the mudcat are down on the mud then maybe the edible cats are lingering above them. And what are you using for bait? Don't know really because they are interfering with bass fishing also. Damn. That's a tough one without trying for myself.

I’ll fish bass with shiners. Catfish I’m not sure what they like best but I’ve caught them on minnows before. Mudfish will bite on pretty much everything, even lures.

I fish in Wisconsin. We use big suckers or small bluegill (where allowed)

I live in Arkansas, so I'm not familiar with Florida at all. Never been there. But here I use whole shad, cut shad, worms or brim for bait while catfishing. Bass I just use lures. And I'm not quite sure what a mudfish is.

I guess they are also called bowfins. They are bottom feeders and look kind of like a cat but without the whiskers.

I know what that is. We have those but I rarely catch them. I usually have problems with gar. And don't you have to worry about gaters?
