Lake level is finally back down to conservation pool level. Wind was to high to really get out on lake and try fishing brush for crappie. Fished from my slip in East Fork Harbor Marina. First fish I hooked was a 17 in Channel Cat that I forgot to take picture of before I cleaned the fish, so it is not included in picture. Lost count of the undersized crappie but did manage to hook 4 keepers. The largest is 13 inches as you can seen in the photo. The smallest was 10.25 inches. Had a couple get into the dock under frame work that I lost. Went through nearly a 1/4 pound of minnows but it was a great day. There was action the entire time.
It would not let me go back and change the sentence it should read There not They.

Hey buddy, My cousin and I fished Lavon last Sept when I came back for dove season. Caught a few small fish but no keepers. Were stuck on shore so was limited to where we could fish. Plys don't know the lake so that didn't help either.
If I get back there this year I'ma give you a call and we'll get together. Steve.

Hwy RW, welcome to the stage. Triple C should be along shortly , he fishes Lavon and might know. Good luck and tight lines.
Rusty, I do not target catfish myself. I do catch a few channel cats while fishing for crappie. The usually run 18 inches and downward.
I do know some fisherman who target catfish; part of the time but I have not asked to many questions of them, for I do not really have an interest. I do know one of them insist that chicken breast is the only bait to use.
From just the conversation I have heard they fish the deep part of the lake for the large ones. I have heard them mention the rock rip rap around the bridges and dam.
You mentioned Blue, are you interested in only the bigger catfish or just catfish in general?
This is a personal question but are you able to walk some distance?
I will quiz my friends about their cat fishing and see if they will tell me the truth, you know sometime fishermen get the facts wrong. LOL
I will send you a private post when I have a chance to talk with them.
I know this does not answer your question but it is the best I can do for now. Keep Trying
I appreciate your time in answering my question. Iām interested in catching anything....I like catfish but nice sized crappie or bass are fun too. I just figured guys would be more willing to share information on catfish than their favorite crappie spot and Iād figure out the rest as I learn the lake. I can walk well.
