Made a trip to my favorite place. It is still a little early, but I went down and camped at Lincoln Beach and chased the cats. Friday I got seven and ten more Saturday. I caught them all on shrimp and worm, the biggest: 26 1/2" I didn't weigh them but it would go a little over 10 lbs. Three more at 26". I fish with two poles and averaged I every 1/2 hour. Just a little slow. In two weeks they will be jumping in the boat. Lol

Nice! How do you decide which ones to keep to eat?

The smaller ones usually. These two both swallowed the hook so I kept them.

Nice clean looking cats. Have you tried circle hooks? They aren't as apt to swallow them, usually hooks em right in the corner of the mouth. They take a little gettin used to, cause you don't set the hook, just start reeling.

Spirit, no, I have thought a lot about them. I missed 3 or 4 on hook set. I fish in shallow water this time of year. It was deeper than usual at 3 feet this year.
And I use a red and white bobber. My mentor that is dead now but still has the Utah record channel cat around 32 lbs taught me how to fish Utah Lake.

He didn't like it when it was to deep to stick your pole in the water to tell how to set your bobber.
