The most humanely way to kill a fish?

So what's the most humanely way to kill a fish? How would you kill a small fish and how would you kill a bigger fish? So far I've been killing bigger fish like carp for example with one hard swift motion, (back of an axe) in the back of the head but I'm wondering is there faster and more humane way to do it?

Nope. I think you got it. A solid whack to the head seems pretty instant to me. We should all be so lucky to go that quick.

Blow to the head to knock them out and a brain spike will kill them quickly.

After that, run a wire through their spinal column to eliminate any chance of stress and hormones diminishing the quality of meat.

Bleed them, remove the guts and gills.

Put them in an icy brine to chill them quickly and then place them on ice.

Pour a little rubbing alcohol into their gills and they die almost instantly.

If you’ve ever seen it, you’d know that it is quicker and easier than lethal injection, which is listed as one of the most humane methods of execution. I would like to know what you think is more humane. Blunt force to the brain is what I would consider the most humane, but the failure rate is much higher than the alcohol method. I spent most of my life in the reptile industry and physical trauma can have horrible results compared to chemical. Do what you think is best, but being humane death is something I am very familiar with.
