Gamakatsu. And I ordered 100 #8 barbless circle hooks from Cabela's a couple years ago. I don't know the manufacturer, but they're good strong sharp hooks. Use em all the time for trout.

Well I’ve had really good luck with true turn. I learned to fish with a larger hook to. Always used a 3 0 till I discovered 4 and 5 0 served me better. And yeah I spelled the other one wrong.

I like the true turn also but fish with many kinds and brands of hooks. One thing I like about the true turns is they will disintegrate fast if you hook a fish deep and need to cut line and leave the hook.

Now that’s a good topic for discussion. I have released fish with an embedded hook but does the fish live, like to think so.

I do not know if the fish will live but I have been advised all my life to just cut the line and release. Been told that the hook will dissolve in a short time. I would think the fish has a better chance of living by cutting line that tearing out tongue or other parts.

I once caught a 3 pound Small mouth Bass that was crapping out a little over half a hook. The point was gone, rusted off. Looked in the fish mouth and deep down I could see where it had been hooked. Believe my that fish healed just fine, it was a scrapper.

The only hooks I use a Gamakatsu unless I'm using trebles where I use VMC.

If you wonder how a fish can survive with a hook stuck somewhere, Just walk into a shopping mall and look at the freak show walking around.. All of the metal in people's faces that has been installed voluntarily.

Let's think about that hook again....

He'll just be another hipster in the water!!

We’ve caught quite a few blue sharks with hooks in them,a couple with multiple hooks, varying in age, some almost rusted away.

Caught a snapper back home years back and had a hook rusting inside its gut. It put up a hard fight, probably remembered that first hook

I either buy barbless hooks or mash the barbs on others.
If you keep the pressure on the fish, you'll catch just as many with barbless.
