Hey all, I have a 2014 Larson FX2020 DC, with a 250 hp Suzuki, I'm thinking about installing a hydrofoil to help plane the boat quicker along with other advantages (I'm told). Anyone have any thoughts or ideas, i.e. yes/no, best brand,
Thanks

Do you seem to have trouble getting up on plane now?

I put a Stingray on my 40hp Merc tiller which works great. Gets me on plane and helps with stability in turns, but I, like Saw wonder if you are having trouble with a 250hp motor. Is your trim and tilt functioning?

They work great . Stingray is what I used . Hardest part is drilling a hole in your new motor.

I KNOW. I HATE THAT ! What we're sayin is do you need the stingray to get on plane better? If so, maybe you need a different prop.
My 60 HP gets me on plane very easily in my 18 1/2 foot Tracker, and I don't have or need a stingray to do it. That's why we were wonderin about your 250?

That was going to be my next question as to whether the prop was correct, or an incorrect replacement?

Yes, with just me running the boat it takes 7-10 seconds to plane.

Motor placement is good, engine runs strong. I rode with a friend today and he has a new Skeeter with 250 Yamaha, boat planes out in about 5 seconds, runs about 6 mph faster and I'm assuming better mpg (even though mpg still stinks) :)

I would check on the pitch of your prop first before putting that stingray on. That is the easiest way to improve your hole shot.

I will give that a try, prop is a Stainless steel 3X16x23R. I don’t have much experience or knowledge on props but I think this is a pretty decent prop for the boat.

Did you buy this boat new and is this the original prop?

That sounds like a really nice prop. However, the pitch of the prop is what gets you up on plane quicker. I'm not very knowledgeable in which is which. One is a power prop and one is a speed prop. I THINK the more pitch you have the more power you have and can get up on plane sooner but your top end speed is reduced. The less pitch you have the slower you get on plane and the faster you can go top end. I would check with a dealer or mechanic and see what they say. What is your top end speed now?

I am the 2nd owner, he damaged the original prop and put this on. The original is exactly the same as the replacement and is a Suzuki prop.

Check with Suzuki to see if this is the optimum prop for that motor. It probably is, but worth looking into. Everything else okay. All cylinders firing, plugs okay?
