Hi everyone,
I thought I'd reach out to the fishing enthusiasts in regards to fishing related gifts. My father-in-law loves fishing and I wanted to get him some new gear. He lives in China and we rarely get to see him. What i do know is that he does both salt and freshwater fishing. I don't think he does fly fishing and mainly sticks to Lake and ocean.
He has most of your standard gear like tackle boxes and baits. But is there something out there that will improve the quality of life during fishing?
Anyway, I hope the post isn't too obnoxious. I tried researching about what to buy as gifts and didn't come across anything too helpful.
Thanks everyone! I look forward to seeing what's out there.

The thing about fishermen is that they probably have everything they need and more unless you’re willing to spend a couple hundred dollars on a reel. He knows exactly what works and what he needs and probably doesn’t deviate much from it.

Knives and multitools are my go to suggestions.

Columbia PFG fishing shirts are a good neutral gift for a fisherman (sun protection and comfort) as has already been stated, you’ll most likely be wasting money buying tackle.

Send him money with a note to spend it on something fishing for himself.
