Ok, guys, based on your input today, I bought an Ugly Stik Elite spinning rod. I tried to get a 7’ mh at two different places, but no stock. I settled for a 6’6” Medium. Should be fine for those minnows I catch. If they get too large, I use my mother rods. With a 7 year warranty, I should be ok.

Good luck. I will be shocked if you’re not satisfied with your selection.

I agree with OJ... have 10+ ugly sticks; dfrnt lengths & actions. Always have one as a backup to my higher end rods. Have never been let down by them. Pics will be greatly appreciated!!!

I carry 2 in my truck always. My 4 1/2 footer and my 7 ft elite, my third is an Eagle Claw featherlight 5 1/2ft. My 7ft was ordered from UglyStik online and shipped to me. It is a pleasure opening up a long tube knowing what is inside it and the fishing adventures to come! Enjoy what sounds like a GX2.

Congratulations, set the hook, keep your rod tip up and let the reel do the work. I’m sure you’re gonna enjoy the new rod.

I have 5 ugly stiks of different sizes. Never had a problem with any of them. Anybody that tells you an ugly stik is a waste of money don’t have one and has never used one. We tried to break a 6’6” medium heavy ugly stik on a sturgeon we couldn’t budge once, over 1000 pounds, and couldn’t break it.

Mine does great for bass fishing here in Idaho. We have small mouth bass in the big salmon river in the summer and I use a 7 foot medium heavy, ugly stik, rod with an abu black master with 10 pound mono and it works awesome. I use the same set up for large mouth on the lakes here as well and have great luck. My buddy uses the same set up with an open faced spinning reel and he does great too. I can just cast further with a little more precision in placement but not a whole lot. Either works great.

I have been towed around a few times by something mysterious on the bottom before the hook straightened or broke off with no issue. I don’t think whatever it was cared that I only paid $29 for the rod and am positive a $200 rod wasn’t going to make a difference. 😉

From surf casting to ultra light, wreck fishing to trolling, I’ve got an Ugly stik for anything.

That’s what I said about my $1000.00 craigslist boat. It caught as many big sturgeon as those $50,000.00 boats fishing down there. More than most of them.
