Welcome to the Forum, koctuseul, Sorry, many of us do not know where Putnam, Country is, would you please put your location, city, and state on your profile sheet above, thank you. You know more about fishing for carp than I do, I have caught them by accident but have never intentionally fished for them.

I use the cheapest whole kernel corn you can buy. Chum with about 1/2 can put some on a size 2 be hook with no weight and let it set. Without a weight the fish will not feel a thing until it's to late, LOL, my biggest is 30lbs on 8lb testliñe and a 12' wet noodle rod

I fish with microlight poles 5 ft long you can bend the rod and touch the tip to the handle.
Large capacity reels set the drag and the fight is on.

I started carp fishing 3 years ago,now I do not fish for anything else,what FIGHTERS(river carp,lake carp not so much)Sweet corn on a #1 octopus hook,spring feeder(fish finder) with a 3oz. slip sinker.rig.

Wing it out there, set your bait runner and wait, when they start stripping line grab it and HOLD ON you're in for a run, play them and when you drag them to shore they get a second wind and TAKE off again.

The reservoirs are great for most every kind of fishing and I’ve seen carp that had to be 5 feet long.
I know your area well and guided in Westchester and Putnam for 25 years. One spot I used to fish and saw these giant carp was in the Muscoot Reservoir. Just south of where rt 100 crosses rt 35 you’ll find Muscoot lane. Follow that to the end where you find the old railroad bridge. It’s a bottle neck where the water is deep but narrow. From the top of the old bridge you can look down from about 50 feet of elevation. Fishing with a bow and arrow is legal and those giant carp cruise the surface, offering some serious sport.

Thanks for the tips. Carp meat is one of my favorite catfish baits.

Never fished for carp but I'm sure they are fun to catch. What do you use for bait?

Natural rolled oatmeal, creme corn, strawberry jello powder all mixed together, cheek out you tube for carp baits you'll have do it a few times till you get the right consistency. That's for your spring feeder, rigging for that is on there too, last but not least..sweet corn kernels on a #1 octopus hook. When your line starts to move..HANG ON.
