Looking for recommendations on a fly tying kit.
I figure with all this downtime why not give tying a go? Any reco's for a good vice and tool kit, as well as starter patterns and how-to videos would be appreciated!

I wouldn’t buy a kit. I’m currently buying a Peak GRV-2 with nice tools to go with it. Renzetti is also a good option. The quality of materials and tools in the kit from what I’ve heard is subpar.

Continuing, I can recommend some flies based on your location, but nothing beats calling your local shop if they are still open and asking them. Starter flies would be anything like buggers, caddis, etc. A lot of things to watch on YouTube to learn to tie.

No problem. I can get more specific if you would like. Peak is completely manufactured in Colorado. Renzetti is also US made, however I forgot where. For the Renzetti I would recommend the Traveler 2200 at around $200 or so. The Peak is about $50 less than that, and while not as aesthetically pleasing, provides the same features if not more. I would recommend a pedestal based vise for starters, it is sometimes hard to find a place for the clamps.

Before buying any equipment find the book publish/authored by Orvis, everything you need to know about tying flies along with some step by step of tying some of the most popular flies.
