Any Texans in here? If you want a really great place to fish Sheldon Lake/Reservoir is really good, it’s tough to fish but there are some hogs in there. We went today, launched about 2:30 and was killin it fishing the points, caught 12 in 5 hours. Our best 5 bag weight would have been 26 lbs, caught a 7.3 and a 6.4....good day, that place is 1200 acres of bass heaven! Check it out if you guys ever get the opportunity

Caught most of mine on a Strike king bug crawl Texas rigged, Alabama crawl is the color, 4/0 Trokar, 20 lb Stren braid. 7’1 heavy Duckett pro, Lews Crush reel. I like a 7:1 gear ratio when fishing plastics.

Rudygofish: Yep, I confess to being a Texan. Glad you posted what you were using, how about any pictures. Can you show us some pictures? I see you are quite new to the Forum, Welcome!

I'm a little long in the tooth and sold my house on Tiki Island and boat some time ago. Am looking for a handy place to take my grand nephew who is almost 8 and loves to fish. I cannot walk far nor stand very much. I've had both knees replaced and haven't been in great shape since. You will find my posts all over this forum.

Good to make contact, thanks for posting. Just Sayin...RJS

Yessir....my profile pic is from that day we went out, that’s the big 1 I caught.
If you have trouble standing Sheldon lake really isn’t the spot for you, it’s mainly boat only Lake but a few people fish from the banks, it easy but most of them are crappie fishing.

Fisher Sheldon this morning, for anyone wanting to fish this lake you better get it now, the Hydrilla is growing up so much will be tough to fish, I had an oz & half weighted jig and still could barely punch through, caught 5 in 4 hrs, 14 lb bag, nothing to brag about but was fun.
