Which do you use.. 4 strand or 8 strand braided? why?
the Pursuit III 4000 & 10ft. Prevail II just came in the mail. I completely forgot about fishing line.
In looking to buy some, I discover there is two kinds of braided.. 4strand & 8strand.
Correct me if I'm wrong, 4strand is more tough 8strand is "quiet" and casts more lighter.
Either or, both of them will do the job right? Because they are braided they are unlikely to snap like mono?
Also there are a LOT of affordable braided line on Amazon listed at such a cheap price.. if I do get what I pay for, should I stick with name brands that's sold at retail stores?

I have found that 8 strand casts a bit nicer, and runs smoother and quieter, while 4 strand seems to cut through weeds or vegetation a bit better while sometimes being a little bit stiffer. To add to the confusion there are also 5 and 9 strand braids available from Berkley. I have never used any of the cheap amazon lines, but have good luck with braids like Suffix 832, Power-Pro and power pro super slick, tuffline XP, and more recently Diawa J-Braid. As far as snapping like mono, that’s depends on how you fish it and what led test. Pound for pound the static breaking strength will be the same. Mono stretches more so is better for absorbing shock from hard striking fish or fish that tend to turn and run or thrash a lot. The advantage of braid is that it is much thinner in a given lb test. 40lb fest is often somewhere around the same diameter of like 12lb mono.

X4 carrier belongs on baitcasters and X8 carrier in eggbeaters. X8 is smoother casting while X4 is coarser and cuts through vegetation easier.
Sufix NanoBraid on my spinning rigs. Power Pro Maxcurato on my baitcasters.

I use Reaction tackle braid, and it's pretty nice. Haven't noticed any difference in performance from powerpro, which is what I ran before.

4-strand for the performance in grass. I hear that the the higher count lines will be quieter in the guides. I started with PP, but am happily using Kastking and Bravefishermen from Amazon. The Proberos doesn't handle as well IMO.

how does this work in lakes that gets moss on it like Bridgeport Ca. It gets green clumps of moss in the lake will this cut thru it when trolling
I live in Fl and fish Saltwater. I only really use Power Pro down here. Yet, I know alot of bass fisherman who use Power Pro with their set-ups. Hope this helps
