Salt water fishing in Brevard County, Fl.
Going fishing tomorrow at Melbourne Beach, Fl. What's the best bait for fishing in the surf?
Sandfleas and live shrimp. Run the fleas on a pomp rig. Next setup a egg sinker (about 12" to hook ) on the Shrimp. U can play with that depending on tide. Fish outgoing. Where sunscreen and remember to ice your fish immediately. I useally throw spoons or rubber with my third pole.

Welcome to the Forum, billy. Listen to Joe, he knows what he is talking about.
Ya last night joe caught more catfish then anything lol. Thanks
Right on...little story I moved here in 09. I go surf fishing with my Yankee set ups. Catch two fish...I'm still not sure but they where red. We atem and they where good. I used alot of squid back then. So my point is. Just go fishing. Try whatever u want. But your out there instead of being book smart u become a catching fisherman.
I came down from NJ in 2016, squid was used alot and minnows for flounder. I've used shrimp and clams and once in awhile sand fleas I dug up on the beach. Still learning, seems like there's many more species of fish here than Jersey. One thing I want to do is buy a boat so I can try different spots
That's what I did. Gheenoe is a good boat and not to expensive if u stay with the 13'. But there are a lot of fish here and the mullet run is flat out awesome. I learned to throw cast net. But u sure seem to be following the fact you moved to a fisherman's paradise.
Pink or orange Fish Bites.
Fish bites work best . Pink or orange
Use a two hook pompano rig . 2-3 Oz prymid weight . Put a square of fish bite on . Buy at Walmart . Pink or orange is best . Whiting and pomp’s and catfish and crabs eat this stuff . Stays on hook better than a flea . Do not use squid ! Unless you want to catch cats and rays ! Sunscreen and water . Bring two rods . Keep one in the first trough and the other on the edge of the second .
When choosing a spot , look at the waves , find an area where they aren’t breaking as much , this is a rip cut . A natural feeding zone . Usually found on one side of a point. So looking up and down beach for a point . Bring a chair too . Hope this helps you . Good luck. I fished Melbourne beach behind the Double Tree hotel . Good spot.caight whiting and pompano.
Thanks for the info. I will do as you suggest!
I know that's true, thanks!
