Washington Dept of Fish & Game closed all fishing because of the virus until April 6 and could extend into unknown future. This being the case The WA WDFG is $65 thousand in the red. With that closure why would anyone buy a $75 dollar fishing license when we can not fish. Now that is Democrat government rules to live bye. Our lakes and the Puget Sound covers a lot of water. More people shop in stores gathers shoulder to shoulder the stores than we would out in open air fishing. Cannot fix stupid.

Same here in Texas. All the parks and camping grounds are closed. Marinas are closed. No bait being sold. I don’t understand why I can’t be by myself Fishing. They want us to be shut ins until further notice. I’m at least walking my dog everyday. Screw em.

I agree Hack, no access is closed here in SW Colorado, YET, still too cold for any crowds anyway. I am thankful to be in a place with lots of space and few people.

there is a lot I don't like about our Washington Dept of Fish and Game but I think this really is the result of our misguided governor. The only thing I have caught lately is the Covid-19 virus when I told my Dr. I was going to quarantine out on a boat on a lake fishing I was told that would be fine since fish can't catch it. (but hopefully I could catch them) anyway I'm thinking they are going against my Dr's recommendations. Unfortunately from the reactions I have seen to this virus it doesn't look like we are the land of the free or the home of the brave. I think given the straight up truth and facts most people would on their own do what was right even if it meant going out on a lake by themselves staying away from other people. By the way I am on the mend and thank the good Lord I didn't have it real bad as others have gotten it.

Same business in California. Senseless, mindless, unworthy leaders in Sacramento.

I, too was bummed and angry when I first heard about the closure of recreational fishing, for the same reasons as I've read here. I looked into it a little, though, and it may make more sense than it seems. First, when the stores lost the ability to keep hand sanitizer and toilet paper on the shelves, what do you suppose happened? Knuckleheads (I really have a different description for them) went to the restrooms at fishing access points, campgrounds, etc, and broke open the sanitizer dispensers and toilet paper dispensers and stole the contents. Then, when the restrooms were locked due to the vandalism people crapped on the ground behind and around the restrooms. Our (we all pay for them with our taxes and licence fees) facilities can only take so much abuse. Second, in the realm of vital, essential employees, wildlife managers and facilities managers probably are not near the top of people who must be out patrolling, and maintaining, interacting with the public. Third, nearly every fishing trip results in a trip to the gas station, tackle store, mini mart or whatever, causing unnecessary interactions between people. Fourth, there have been many reports of people gathering at popular fishing spots and not maintaining a decent distance. With Washington now over 4300 confirmed cases of covid-19, maybe we could quit thinking about ourselves for once, and consider our place in helping out for the greater good. Just Sayin
