Hi fellow fishermen. Anybody know anything about Quantum Throttle spinning reels. I bought one last week on sale. Just wondering if I got a deal or not at $35. It feels and looks like good quality to me. I haven’t put it to use yet unfortunately. Thanks

Sorry, I have a quantum reel and it's o.k., I have never heard of a quantum rod.

I have a few Quantum spinning reels in my boat for the grandkids. They work pretty well and are a good choice for the money. These days $35.00 is a good deal on any reel that will last a season or two and that’s my experience with these reels.

I have some from 25-35 years ago and except for having lost the cap for the nonhandle side they sre still great no experience with newer reels. Most of my spinning reel are these or older penn's Both of which work great but no repair parts available.
I've had a Quantum reel for 15 to 20 years an it still works great. Hope you're being safe up there neighbor
With any mechanical device age equals use and maintenance. I use my reels a lot. Long cast a couple hundred times a day for 5 months straight during my commercial season. I do a lot of cleaning and greasing during that time. If a reel is used a lot without maintenance it won’t last as long as one that is maintained. Manufacture and design makes a big difference, good metal components vs plastic, amount of bearings and type, warranty design and customer support all go hand in hand with the initial cost of the equipment. Quantum is a Zebco product that can be easily purchased at WalMart for a reasonable price. Not much in the way of warranty design but I have good luck with them if I grease and oil them regularly and use them for their specific application.
The quantum reel is a good reel,my wife uses a couple and loves em. Quantum makes rods also that are really sensitive. The quantum energy IM6 graphite.

I have a quantum baitcaster I’ve had in my boat for 4 years as a spare. I use it quite a bit and it works great. Paid $27.00 for it at wal mart 4 years ago.
yes quantum reel are pretty good ps at least every other year grease main gear and bac gear and use light machine oil on your bail set and fittings & wipe down with wd40 exterior & you should be ready to go
Catfish hunter, those older quantum 1310mg’s were great reels. I have 2 and they bit the dust and I can’t find parts for them. Real repair man said just retire them so I did.

That’s a bummer because, like everything else, they’re probably worse the newer they get. Mine are still decent but I don’t use them full time. I DO use them quite a bit though. Maybe I’ll ease up on em a little so I’ll have em longer. They work awesome for bank casting the tributaries where I can’t get my boat in to.
Yeah it’s a shame. I had used those reels sense i bought them in the 80’s. You know,I might make 1 work with parts from the other. You created some brain activity here, thanks.
The only problem I've ever had with a Quantum reel was with one of the old Snapshot reels. The trigger stopped working so you just had to open the bail by hand, no big deal, other than that the reel worked just fine. Their customer service has always been great. A couple times I've needed parts and they've sent them to me free.
Mine are bait casters bought in the mid 80’s. There are no parts for those reels. At least that’s what I’ve been told.
