I’ve had great luck with the Fishdrops LB200 Pro I have 5 of them 17 + 1 bearings, both drags only had trouble with one pin broke they sent me a complete new reel right away, they cast great good drag no noise casting or retrieving good luck and Fishon Fishon!!!!

I agree completely!!!!!!!! Whenever I can, I buy American even if it costs more. Note: if you really look around you can find American that is LESS than communist made. Even in Walmart I've found things made here. Sometimes it is just located on a lower shelf and for LESS (why???).

Higher profit items are usually placed at eye level in retail stores.

How well does the reel cast and and well does the mechanical break work and how strong is the magnetic breaking on the reel.

Newbie, but I’ve been lurking for a while. This thread moved me to register. I am buying American. I’m not xenophobic, but maybe jingoistic. I try to spend locally because when the shit hits the fan it’s the locals you need.

Actually, I try hard not to buy anything made in China. Don't want to be supporting that kind of repressive, authoritarian government!

Good luck finding reels not made in China.
Penn and Avet are about it when it comes to made in USA conventional reels.
There are several fly reels still made here!

A couple years ago I bought a bait casting reel made in China to go with a fishing rod I made for my Grandson. I chose a reel that sounded good and had a lot of bearings. In all the 70+ years of buying my own reels, that have been made in USA, I have never had a reel that the handle knob fell off like that Chinese reel! You get what you pay for, but I don't believe that 10, 20, 30 or 40 years later you will ever see like we see on this site an old reel that is still being used. Almost like TP, use it once and buy more.

I agree to buy those reels mfg. in the USA, the trick is finding out where the reels were made. It takes some real (reel) digging.

Me too. The China virus is over here now. Don't want to buy anything that says China on it.

You can go Swedish. Get a reel that will give many years of service. The round reels by Abu Garcia run around $125.
