Trout fishing

I’ve done lots of lake trout fishing. And throughly enjoy it. When I go I usually just use bait on a treble. However, I want to start throwing lures more just because it’s something different. I’ve used rooster tails in the past but want to know if there’s anything else I could throw? I know lake trout usually aren’t as aggressive as river trout but would they go for jigging?

Try a kastmaster, they cast a mile and you just need to reel them in. Give it a twitch every once in a while

The Rebel one? That stuff is my favorite. I have found it's success rate varies a lot by location though.

In Canada, around mid September, we use a light colored jig and minnow. Seems to work well. Pretty heavy jig as they're usually 40 to 60 feet deep.

Put on one of those plastic bubbles, fill about half way with water and use it to drag around a wooly bugger about 36" behind it. Trout love wooly buggers!

On stocked trout joes flys will works stream or lake you might have to add a split shot to get some distance. It will tangle once in a while but worth the aggravation.

Yes. And they like leach patterns. Present them the same way.

I have a trip planned to Bozeman Montana end of June, will be my 1st time fly fishing, any tips much appreciated. We Rented a house on the Gallatin river.....I was told you can catch bass in there, couldn’t believe it. I was thinking of taking my set up, I’m going to fly fish but I’d also like to do a little bass fishing which should be quite different than here in Texas. Any tips much appreciated fellas.
