Any opinions on either or both? I’ve narrowed it down to these 2. I’m leaning lews right now. Plus I like the American hero program lews does. Bonus points for me there. But my research has shown both are well made for the price. It will be my first Baitcaster

I’d go Lews, I have the Mach crush myself. Went from push button to it. It was the First bait caster I learned on and won’t use anything else. P.S. if you get a “FREE” item with purchase just make sure to double the size. I received the grey lews hoodie. Got it in XL and I fits like a medium. Good luck!!!

No Shimano? I abused a $40 Shimano Sonora in saltwater for ten years and finally had to retire it this year. I’ve had very little luck with Lews or Abu reels.

I love my Lew’s American hero combo. Have not had any problems with it (knock on wood) and caught plenty of fish with it to know it’s a good combo.

Well it just so happens brother that I have both of them and use them on a regular basis. I am a huge fan of Lew's and have several of their baitcasters as well as matching spinners. But the first baitcaster I bought last year was the Abu Garcia black max. I also have an extra black max reel that I keep as a back up in case something happens to mine and thankfully nothing has yet. Even though it's only been a year I have used it a bunch of times and still continue to use it to this day. So really you can't go wrong with either of those choices. But the bonus for the Lew's is if you buy it you can send a picture of your proof of purchase from a store and get a free hoodie or pair of shorts.all you ha e to do is cover the shipping.
