New here but not to fishing. Michigan's upper Muskegon and World renowned Pere Marquette rivers are my stomping grounds. If you're headed this way and want a heads up on these rivers, holler at me :)

Welcome to the Forum, Charlie. That is a very good thing to know. Would you please put your city and state on the profile section above. That way members will know where you live and if interested, send you a PM. Plumbob and I also have a special spreadsheet with usernames, cell numbers, city and state addresses on in case of an emergency or information wanted about an area. If you would like to be on the spreadsheet, PM me, flyguy, give me your user name, real name if you would like, your cell number, your city, and state. Also, tell us if you would like to keep this information private, just for plum's and my eyes or public where the list will go out to other members on the list only, not the entire Forum. Any questions, ask in the PM.

Maybe that should be a required field to fill when signing on??

I would love it if it was, but I don't think that is an option.

Why not? It is a requirement for other forums.

Hi Charlie-almost neighbors-I'm Don Reynolds from Elk Rapids. Fished your area a lot, in my youth, and always had great success. Just waiting for the steelhead to come into our power dam area in the village-we get some big boys every spring. Spawn mainly drift bouncing or bobber fishing will work. I host an annual free fishing expo here every summer and this year is Wed. July 1st from 5-7 p.m. located at the Elk Rapids Harbor Marina Pavilion-easy to find. It's like a mini show with 11 tables and assorted " fishing experts" showing their specialty. Ranging from rod/fly making, how to fillet a fish and cook it , soft and hard lures, etc. We also have three from the DNR with their table and goodies. You get a free door prize raffle ticket when you come in with an agenda showing where everything is located-free grab bags with fishing tackle and lures fishing website handouts and free refreshments. Last year's top prize was a $150 rod/reel combo and we usually run about 8-10 more prizes at the drawing at end of show. This year we are going to have the DNR research vessel "Steelhead" in port for free tours/information on their various program -same day but at 3-5 p.m. Come out if you can and enjoy
