Decided to buy a new graph for this summer. Lowrance vs. Humminbird

Going to use this one mainly for the side imaging casting and trolling. I’m a humminbird guy, but the Lowrance is tempting.

Humminbird HELIX 12 Mega SI CHIRP GPS G2N

Or

Lowrance ELITE-9 Ti2 Active Imaging 3-N-1

The touch screen is also a plus on the Lowrance.

Any opinions or tips is appreciated!

Both will get the job done, I prefer Lowrance for the customization, being able to set up the unit the way I like it. SI leans to HB but Lowrance is catching up fast, I have a new system and haven't noticed any problems at all. Reg sonar is better on Lowrance. Mapping is about the same, HB does have Lakemaster in additon to Navionics but Navionics usually has a wider area for the money and more lakes. Plus, the newer versions allow you to do shading on depths.

Thanks for the feedback. Someone said to me:

“Lowrance is like watching 80’s tv. It’s okay, but not great. Humminbird MEGA is like watching high def.”

So I guess the decision is ease of use or super clarity. Do you think the active imaging on the Ti2 is capable of marking a good musky on si? Comparable to the Mega?

I would say, they are on par with each other now. I have marked Muskies out on Green Bay with it no problem at all and can pick out Muskies vs. Walleyes and different types of bait. Honestly, both brands are good units. The thing about Lowrance is all the extra features and customizations. I like being able to set up my screens to display the data I want, change screen size and position, customize the pages, etc. If I'm running to a spot I want to have a bigger map than locator, for example. I have a screen set up for that. I don't need SI or DI on that page. Then when I am trolling, I want to have DI and SI running large.

Depends on your trolling motor set up too. If you have the top end I pilot gotta go with humminbird. Love being able to tell it to follow a depth contour and then not have to touch the motor again.
