I have a bad heart but if I have to crawl I’ll never quit the activity of fishing. The Sport that I have loved since I was 7 years old when I caught my first bass. I can’t walk very far without having to sit down. I do have a transport chair and my wife gets me as close to the water as she safely can. Sometimes I’m at the waters edge other times I can be 20 feet from the edge of the Lake. I love to bass fish and throw top water lures and crankbaits. I also “Wacky” Rig, Texas Rig and Carolina Rig. My Question to all of You is that I need advice on a Rod that can throw my lures as far as possible. Your advice is appreciated.

I hear you Davey. This past year has been a real challenge for me, dealing with some ferocious pain in my back due to arthritis and stenosis. So I seek out spots with fairly easy access and clear paths to the water. I've found that for longer casts you need a longer rod. If you're using conventional, switch to a spinning rod and reel. I'm not a bass fisherman, so others on here can give you better advice in that regard. Go with as long a rod and as light a braided line as you think you can get away with.

I use a 7 foot rod with a light reel spooled with 8# braid. It is the diameter of 2# mono and I can cast a 1/4oz jig with a small swimbait for 40 yards. I have been usin that setup for a couple months now and it has been workin great.

Hello Davey L. I once read about special fishing equipment which allows you to cast great distances. I thought the unit was air powered. I just searched for something that might help you and others and came across this information. Check out - rustyangler.com/fishing-with-disabilities - then scroll down to - Electric Fishing Reels. The first line below that heading lists - Push button casting devices that can send the lure into the water at varying distances. Another resource for disabled fishing information is - Disabled Sports USA. I am sure you can find more information like this on line or from these sources. Hang in there and good fishing! (It sounds like you have a good, understanding wife which is a true blessing!)

A longer rod will definitely increase your distance. Check into a long crappie rod.

I'm with Spirit and Saw on this, the longer the rod the further it casts. Spinning gear with braid also adds to cast distance. Brother I feel your pain bad back surgery left me with a lot of pain and makes it hard to get around. I'm not slowing down until I have to, the wife says take it easy but the easier you take it the less you can do. Hang in there and keep the lines tight.

I know it’s cheating but with a bad ticker you could use a drone to carry your lure out and then you just reel it in like normal. I know I know. This is going to open a whole can of worms 🐛.

I recently saw an older gentleman clipping his line to the bottom of a child’s toy DRONE. He clipped with a clothes pin sent it out over the lake freespolling his line. When the drone was 70 yards from him in a nice spot he tugged on the line and the lure plopped down and he made a nice slow jerky retrieve. He did this a few times and was rewarded with a nice bass.

Bought a 96-Fenwick. If I had a drone it and a 15 dollar Swimbait both would end up 50 yards out in the lake
