I'm new to fishing and plan on getting a Twin Troller but want to keep costs down. Im looking at portable model fish finders so I can buy the less expensive model of the Twin Troller (the more expensive model has a Lowrance as standard equipment). Anyone using a portable fish finder you can cast off shore, a kayak or small boat? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Well,,,,,,,,, welcome to the Forum, Frenchie and Hank. I think I welcomed you once before Frenchie, but that's fine.

I bought a Lucky fish finder a week ago on Amazon. Is rechargeable, tie onto a rod to cast out and turn on display unit, pull out antenna and it shows the depth, temp, fish image. Has quite a few settings.

Thanx Ronniejw, I ordered one today. Got noting to lose. I fished years ago without one so anything might be better than that.

Being rechargeable saves costs on batteries. I have a spare rod I attach it to. It has adjustments for sensitivity, fish alarm and more. I would keep the sensitivity on the low side so you don't get false signals.

When you get it charge it fully before using. They only give you one cord but an Android cable fits it. It also has 3 lights and they may attract fish. Just have to hope something big doesn't eye as lunch.

I decided to change my mind and go with the Deeper Pro+, I'm a hopeless bells and whistles kind of guy. I'll let you know if I made a mistake or not.

Read up on what you want to buy. My wife and I bought some nice ones, but they only work with WIFI. No good on remote ponds.

All I can do is hope this thing lives up to what the people on the internet and this forum say it does. You know how it is, everyone has an opinion and a smart man listens to them, weighs them out and makes a decision.

I looked at the WiFi ones but where I fish can lose signals so went for the LUCKY with hand held screen. Works ok within range and easy to see in daylight.

For the price I’m almost tempted to buy the Lucky anyway.
