i am planning to take my great nephew, Jeremiah 7 1/2 fishing on his spring break and wanted to get the information about the private lake near Plantersville, Texas. I understand it is catch and release, but well stocked. We are in the process of having him adopted by my daughter. He is a bright boy, full of life, and a live wire, but had some serious baggage. I have discovered that he enjoys fishing and gets really excited about going. I'd like to find a place where he can tie into a 3 or 4 lb. black bass, or two! He surprised me on our first trip. I was casting a spinning reel and allowing him to fish. He kept asking to cast it himself. I reminded him it was complicated and I would do it for him. Finally, I gave in and to my surprise he cast almost across the small pond where we were fishing! Later, in Galveston fishing off a pier, he caught two baby hammerhead shark.

Mr Samples, Enjoy your young man, and let him open your eyes so that you can see y'all's world through a child's eyes together. That's the best way for you to learn together and for you to remember the things you learned when you were his age. Happy times and tight lines.

Being in Plantersville I hope it has some planters in it. Good Luck RJS. That’s great you have a young fisherman to go with. It’s really awesome if a 7.5 yr old can properly cast. It’s good because now he can learn early how to control the cast and put the lure or bait right where he wants it. Your making memories for both of you and no one can ever take them away from him. He will hopefully be like the rest of us in 50 years telling people about what YOU did for him. I never knew it when I was young and going with elder relatives but now I do.

I wished I would have taken a picture of a 5 year old fishing my pond today with his dad that does not have a clue about fishing for bluegill, bass, and big catfish. He breaks off a hook and line and gets it back with his line and ties a double knot in it and continues fishing!! This young man still catches 20-30 fish and is having so much fun and dad is having trouble keeping the hook baited with worms. Dads rod has no tip as he broke it off in his truck door and the line is probably 30 pound on a 1000 reel and he has no clue; the important thing was they both were having so much fun I gave him a spool of decent line and a new rod and told him he should have his son get used to one reel at a time. He was using a zebco cast and dad would hand him is rod while he was baiting his with a new worm and he had the spinning reel upside down and I'm laughing my ars off. Talk about bonding. They were here for about 2 hours and dad through all the stuff in the back of his pickup and I was wondering if the Fenwick rod I gave him would make it home in one piece.

What I learned from my grandkids is aim them in the right direction and let them experiment. It's amazing how fast they learn
