He’ll be migrating north shortly. Hope he’s a legal 28” when he gets here

Nice catch I’ll bet he fought a little different than the trout.

That he was Mike. The kind that go left and right with a zing to the drag heading for deeper waters. Once I saw what he was I put the net back instead of using it in hopes he would wiggle free. When you want them to do it doesn't happen. He was well hooked and swam well afterwards.

When you hook them The stripes and the hybrid know how to turn sideways and use the water pressure to Their advantage

Oh, forgot that you had to throw the striper back. Well now you have the recipe. Good for striper or drum.

Hey High Tide thanks for the recipe. Now I will copy and paste it to my fish folder.

The thought did cross my mind about keeping it, but possibly getting caught soon erased that thought. FYI remember that area where the covered dock was? That's where I got him.

Getting caught once will ruin several seasons of fishing! Definitely not worth it. I do remember the covered dock and will put that in my notes! thanks!

Well today he was there, tomorrow its a different story. It's all luck and the right conditions. Sometimes LOL

Haha. I know all about that. short on the luck and having one day a week to fish it's hard to catch the conditions right. The good thing about the limit being 28 " is that when you get one you have a pretty nice fish.

I'm a ignorant Californian/hoosier - what's Strick a lean? this sounds really good, but where would I get Strick a lean?

Haha. Streak a lean is a piece of pork fat with a streak of meat. I think I spelled it wrong originally cause that's how we say it here. lol. It looks like this and you can find it in the meat section.
