I ordered yesterday:
Gulp Earthworms $3.76
PowerBait Chrome-Glow Crappie Nibbles $3.96
Lazar Sharp Circle Hook Assortment $9.82
Ordered the earthworms for bass and the powerbait nibbles for crappie.
Do you think these will work?

msmlim: In for a penny, in for a pound! You've already ordered the bait and circle hooks, nothing left but wet your hook. Ordinarily, I would not expect to catch black bass with earth worms. More likely to attract catfish, brim and crappie, same for whatever the "nibbles" are. I suppose it will depend upon the bass and how hungry they are. In the world of tackle, you've only spent less than $20, which isn't a big deal and if it works great! I would offer that for black bass you might try a black or purple worm, maybe 10 to 12 inches long on a Texas or Carolina rig would be a better choice. Go to Youtube on how to rig and fish those. I get that stuff at Bi-mart up here. I get night crawlers ( real earthworms ) pretty much anywhere. But if the worms I bought work I try to get same type the next day or when needed. Hopefully the same batch. People feed all sorts of things to worms. They also use all sorts of bedding.

I had good luck with Wal-Mart Canadian worms. But once they were gone I went to a local store at the river and bought some of their worms. Got a few fish but not as red hot as the other worms.

I bought the worms in a jar. Don't use real worms anymore.

I use Gulp earthworms from jars and catch lots of LM bass. I also use the Gulp worms in bags rigged Texas style on ewg hooks and do very well. My best colors are pumpkinseed and natural. The natural color ones in jars will also catch bluegill under a bobber. Channel cat also like both kinds too. If you rig the 6” Gulp worm “wacky” style under a bobber near the bank, you will catch bass and channel cat both.

That's a good idea about fishing wacky under a bobber near the bank. I meant to ask about that on the fishing forum. If I don't do any good in the Spring at Beech Fork Lake, I may have to find another spot to fish at. Maybe if my cousin goes with me, there are more secluded spots that I don't go alone, and she is a pretty good size woman 5' 10'.

I don't think the bass I've seen are black bass. All I know is they are gray with a huge mouth. Someone on the forum said they had success with the worms for bass and also someone on the forum said they had success with the crappie bait I mentioned. That's why I ordered them.

You know the term "black bass" doesn't really mean that they are really "black" in color. That's what LM bass are called. LM Black Bass. Most are Greenish with a little black down their lateral line. During the winter up here they get real washed out lookin, kinda whitish.

I prefer a Yamamoto Senko whacky rigged with an o-ring. Bass eat them! I've never had any luck with any powerbaits.
