It may seem selfish, but if I’m on a crowded lake that’s pounded and I was successful, I switch the lure on my rod to something I never used before I dock. The first thing I see fellas do is eyeball what’s on the rod.

I've done that and am sure lots of people do. I put on a Raw Dog wobble thrasher, or something else I can't get a hit on. I have been known to hold a bending rod under water, so I don't end up being in the middle of a flotilla. That is definitely sneaky and the fish doesn't seem to care.

I think we have all done something like that before. I try not to catch fish when other people are watchin me and where I'm fishin, but sometimes it happens anyway.

Kind of hard to hide a hookup on the beach but I'll try. Sometimes drop the rod tip so they can't see the bend, sometime let a little slack in it. My brother says he can always tell when I'm fighting a fish from the way I stand.

I Kayak for the past year now and have been out on the water with my 2 neighbors. All 3 of us can be using the same Z man tossing in the same areas and sometimes 1 is and the other 2 are not catching. Its all in techniques, height in the water, and sometimes just good luck.

I will pass on what I am catching with because the next time out, who knows what is going to work.

That's so true. I too pass on info bout where and what I use bout fishin. However, WHILE I'm fishin I don't like it when people come over to where I'M fishin and fish right next to me just because I'm catchin fish. And it happens sometimes when people SEE you catchin fish. They come over and start fishin nearly on top of you. I've been fishin from shore before and had people come over so close that they actually crossed my line when they cast out. THATS why I don't like for people to see me catchin fish. Some are just RUDE.

Exactly my point I was trying to make. I’ve had’em toss an anchor ten feet from my boat and not say a word.

Rude is such a kind word Saw. Been out on the water and like Monday says, I have had them sneak in, motor in to chase me away, and once just come right up within slapping distance to see what I am using.

Rude yes, right word, no. But that attic is cold.

Why didn't you slap them PB? You are the better man than them?

Monday, Is there another Columbia River up in Seattle now? Just Curious I am down near the one I know about. I agree about arrogant hogs... (people that hog the river). Hogline topic...

I took my Nephew out in a Rental Boat before I had any powerboats. This was about 28 or so years ago. He was about 8 years old. I was going to anchor up in the line that all the HOGS were anchored up in. A few guys started barking ...cussing...saying I couldn't blah blah blah. I said OK...sorry I will move.

I moved just downstream of the loudmouth HOG and dropped the rental anchor ( it was a bunch of chain). None of the HOGS said anything after that point including the jerks that told me I could NOT anchor up like they had (where I would not of effected their fishing). Its a "how do you like me now" type thing. Most of the attitude was about my nephew and I being in a 12 ft aluminum rental as compared to their powder coated fancy jet sleds ( made for shallow white water anyway). I have seen the arrogance as long as I have been an adult doing all sorts of sports. Dirt bikes...Fishing...Hunting...Camping... the list goes on and on. Some people do not look down their nose at everyone for any reason you can find at the moment.

Can't reason with stupid so moving on was a good move. Showed your nephew you were better then that. His and your safety was priority 1.

There’s a protocol on the hog line that’s got nothing to do with what’s keeping you afloat. Many years ago my father decided he was going salmon fishing and since the hog line ran half way across the river (same one that has apparently moved north to Seattle) he anchored above them which meant he was fishing beneath the boats. Oh boy! He was educated real quick like. Never again was that mistake made.

I moved downstream right below the loudest jerks. They could not fish until we left. That's what I meant by " How do you like me know"? Shut the guy up and didn't want his 20 plus dollars worth of diver etc in the rental chain. Once there was a bunch of witnesses I figured why not. They should of not whined when I was going to anchor next to them

Some people are just a-holes no matter what the situation and they just have to let you know it. I was bank fishing a couple years ago and a guy in a boat came real close to shore, crossed my line and began to towing my stuff behind his stern. Had to cut my line and him laughing like a damn fool. What's the point in that?
