Born2fish Loc: Beaumont, TX

I’ve been reading this site for about a year and finally decided to register. I’m an old fisherman literally and figuratively. Born and raised in Shamokin, PA but currently reside in Beaumont, TX. My Dad started me trout fishing with a bamboo fly rod when I was 5 and I’ve been fishing ever since (many decades). Fished Penns creek, Fishing creek, Roaring creek, Loyalsock creek, Rock run and many others. Also fished some lakes for chain pickerel. For the last 35 years I’ve fished saltwater on Sabine Lake and the jetties. Favorite catch is flounder followed by specks; any redfish I catch I release. I enjoy reading your posts, lots of good info and nice pics of catches.

Welcome to the Forum, B2f, Do you still have your bamboo fly rod? Why do you release the reds?

Blackened red fish is one of the best. They are one of the hardest hitting and fighting fish out there, the big ones tend to have worms but that doesn't hurt any thing when they're cooked. Specks are my personal favorite though.
