So this is my catfish Secret. I have never been skunk while using this setup. It brings the big ones in-stock ponds! Use a bottom bouncer found at Academy Sports for under $2. A package of number three odd snelled hooks. Primo super sticky blood catfish bait, you get it at Walmart for like $4 Canadian nightcrawlers you can get them at Academy also. Set up your rig. You have to put the snelled hooks on it what this rig does is suspend your bait 6 inch off the bottom. Thread a hole Nightcrawler on each hook. Don't skimp and used a half of a crawler! Get a stick and add a little water to the top of your blood bait then stir your crawler in your in your sticky solution. Before You cast dip your baits in the water real quick it helps to set up the blood bait. Cast out into deep water and you are sure to get the catfish biting! Especially when you get the blood bait mixed around in the water.

Cool. Nice when you catch plenty. I enjoy targeting Channel Cats I would enjoy other larger types as well just hit and miss to figure out where they are. I like eating cats. They are a bit of work to skin and get the meat off of them. The larger the better

Was it you Egg that posted the pictures of them lions that you'd harvested? It if was, then you said that they taste every bit as good as other game. I've heard that cat meat tastes like cat pee. So now I've heard both sides. It's going to remain a mystery to me, of that I can assure you.

Jonmaly - I figured out a long time ago that the trick to catching big catfish is keeping the bait up off the bottom, but not too far. I used to use a casting bobber and adjust the length of the line under it til I found the correct zone. I also used a Shimano Baitrunner so they could take it and run with it. If you had a centerpin reel with that setup and let it drift, that would be killer. I was not aware that they even existed back when I was cat fishing, or I'd have had one. Thanks for sharing.

Rigging for catfish I always use a good weight mostly for casting a long ways. But tie three dropper loops about a foot apart up the line and bait up with three different baits to see what there gonna hit.

And lions and bobcats don't taste like cat pee.lol it's a white meat if you didn't know what you were eating you'd think it was a grain fed tender pork. There awesome.

I hate saying this but Egghead is correct. Old mountain men & trappers would write in their journals that they liked eating mountain lion because it tasted like pork. I'll take their word for it. If Egghead wants a mouthful he's welcome to my share.
