Good morning fellow fishermen. I did it! I had to have it! I bought one of the best fishing reels ever made. the Shimano xdg 150 CD. If you haven't heard it is the fishing reel that one best of show in the world fishing exposition. It is almost impossible to throw a backlash with it or end up with a soft spool at the end of a cast it has a computer chip in it that automatically brakes 1000 times a second according to your cast. And it does just that. It is totally amazing and should be at the cost of $189. You all tell me what you think. A lot of you will go out and buy one after you see how this thing works. Google it. You can cast it into a wall and the spool we'll stop when the bait hits the wall! I don't have enough good to say about it. Caught one good fish with it right at 3 lb. In my work pond.

Nice fish Jon. If it’ll stop backlash then $189 is cheap.

You are the bass MAN Jon, so if you say it's the best reel, who am I to argue with you. If it's that good, $189 is rediculous when you compare that to some of the others (even Shimanos) that are out there.

I do have a bone to pick with you - my wife bought me an Ambassadeur round reel for Christmas and it's my new favorite toy. After being a spin guy all my life (I'm 72) I'm beginning to enjoy baitcasters. Now I'm going to have to figure out how I'm going to get her buy me one of these. Thanks buddy.

If I ever gave good advice. This is the is the best advice I ever gave.! You have to have one! It is a must! It is totally Magic. I can cast 1/8 oz jig 50 yards. That's into the wind. If you buy one and don't like it take it back get your money back and I will give you $189 the price of the real. That is how confident I am of this device! Used it all day today it probably saved me 40 minutes to an hour not pulling line out of my baitcaster. I want to save and get another one! It's a whole lot of money but it is worth twice that much.

These are very nice reels, but don't expect too much. My brother in law bought one and challenged me to create a backlash. With one try I was able to create a backlash so bad he had to cut it out and replace the line.

That being said, if you use this like an average fisherman, it will treat you very well. I went out of my way to create that backlash. I would never have casted that way in the real world.

I still say, when it comes to baitcasting, my thumb is my best friend. My thumb + this reel would be a dynamite combination.

I whole heartily agree ! These reels are fantastic. Never thought I would spend about $200 for a reel , but this one is worth it.

I'm a Daiwa spinning reel guy. No level-winds for me. 70s-era Silver Series for me.
