Giles, please add your location to your profile. That way you don't have to tell us you live in Texas every time you post something. I don't live in Texas so I don't know where Katy is but we have quite a few folks down that way and I'm sure they will be on here soon with advice for you.

Santagiles: There are city lakes all around Katy. Google the locations, times, requirements. You do not indicate your experience and fishing preferences. Do you have tackle? If you are game for saltwater and have a boat, there are several hundred square miles of water in the Galveston Bay system.

For just a quick trip, check out the party boats that go out of Galveston or Freeport. They take charters out for red snapper on day trips and furnish tackle, bait, etc. Since these leave early in the A.M., suggest making arrangements, then get a motel for the night prior. There are also fishing guides all along the coast that have a much more likely chance of putting on fish and teaching you how to catch them. There are a mirad of choices; fresh water, bay fishing and off shore.

Good luck, send some photos, and stay in touch....Just Sayin..RJS

You can also PM Jonmaly or Hacksaw. They live in the Houston area and fish regularly.

go to a coastal pier, use light tackle, small hooks and small pieces of fresh bait. don't cast/ drop straight down next to one of the support pylons. find a friendly regular and ask him/her for advice.
