My wife & I always look forward to watching the Westminster dog show which is held the week after the super bowl. We favor hounds but are open minded. This year a golden retriever named Daniel won the sporting group. Golden retriever, one of America’s most popular dogs, has never won best in show at Westminster. Daniel was magnificent, clearly the fan favorite – check out the internet reviews. He hugged his handler after winning sporting group, then paraded with his prize ribbon in his mouth. The audience went nuts.
Then came the finals. The previously sequestered judge was ushered in, evaluated the dogs, then chose the poodle as best in show.
We, like many other, feel Daniel was robbed.
Unlike our elections have become the dog show is not a popularity contest.
I like big dogs. Goldens are the most loving creatures, but so are poodles. I had a friend whose mom was saved by her standard poodle. The pooch made short work of a good sized guy. Great retrievers with a weird haircut. With some friends, I managed to give a sheep a poodle cut one time. That led to one very confused animal. Sorry your favorite didn't win.
