Lowrance fish finder operation

I have purchased a elite 9 Lowrance fish finder with touchscreen operations. My question is do I need to shade the screen from the hot sun? Has anyone experienced any problems with this situation?

I have 2 lowrance fish finders in my boat. The hds gen 2 models, I've never had a problem with the heat. But if I put my phone next to them my phone over heats and shuts off??? Maybe a little share wouldn't hurt. Huh,? Good idea.

I have the Lowrance TI and haven't had any issues with sun or heat. However, it's attached above the steering console which is under the boat top so it's somewhat protected (at least from the direct sun)

Thanks for the feedback! I ordered a shield from Lowrance to fit my fish finder.

I would imagine fish finders are designed to operate in the heat. My question is, would the displays be easier to read if they were shaded from direct sunlight?

I built a hood for my fish finder to enable me to easily read it no matter how bright the sun is. I made one out of cardboard first to make sure it worked. I then made one out of 1/4" plywood and painted the interior pieces with flat black and use it on sunny days. Works for me!

I have 2 lowrance on my small boat, an elite 7 & a 7ti. It gets mighty hot here in Oklahoma but those locators have never given any trouble. I'm the fixture that gets overheated & needs to quit before noon then won't get back on the water til late in the afternoon. The problem seems to get worse the older I get.
