Mornin' Howard, You will lose sensitivity with each ferrule that you have. The most sensitive rod will be your one-piece rod.

Yeah Fly, but a one piece is tough to get thru' the carry on and into the overhead?

I have 3 and 4 piece rods. None have traditional metal ferrules. No problem.
I don’t think anybody makes rods with metal ferrules any more.

Have both fly rods and spinning rods that are 4 pc. Agree with the above on ferrule evolution... not a prob.
