Hey AAM, welcome to the satge. Where you fishin out of? If you could put it in your profile , then we all could know. That looks like a leopard shark. We catch em out at Tomales Bay Cali. I caught 1 bout 5 feet long last year when we were fishin for halibut. Good fight but we release all the sharks.

Some are and some aren't. I've had thresher shark and it was very tasty, nice firm dark meat, similar to ahi tuna.
Something fishy (?) about that photo. That looks like an inflatable, it's got a seam running down its side and there is absolutely no blood anywhere to be seen. Just looks too perfect. What the hell do I know?

Welcome to the Forum, ifish. You have to realize that the people on here, and there are well over 13,000 of us, and we are all fishermen and fisher ladies, and we all lie. BUT, we don't call it lying, we call it "jerking your chain". There is a difference, so, if the fish is real, fine, congratulations. If it is fake, you have done a good job of "jerking our chain". Good Job!
