This morning my plan was to fish a pond that I had fished before, take the owners of the pond to lunch, and go look for a lake that I had seen on Fishbrain.

This is how that went -

Things weren’t going to well when I got hung up and lost my favorite wacky worm. After using three different plastics I headed back to the car for some re+riggin. I did that without bites, so decided to quit and see if the owners were back so we could go to lunch. That was a negative, too. When one of the owners returned about 1:30 he got some chains, threw them in the back of his Ford 4WD PU to pull me out. He made a mistake and got his PU stuck so he went to get the backhoe. After he linked together about 5 chains he was able to pull me out. Ditto for his PU.

Now to drive fast, sling mud and find this never heard of lake inwest Tulsa name Lake Parsegia. 20 minutes later Google Maps tells me that I have arrived at my destination.. I looked in all directions, turned the car around twice and have yet to spy this lake. Another 20 minutes and I am back home in Broken Arrow, OK. What a day! I am glad no buddies were with me. I am glad we are due rain tomorrow so it will wash the mud off the driveway.

Hope that rain washes the memory from your data bank.

Spirit: No, Man! Pain and fear are what you remember most. He won't forget that experience, even after finally finding the lost lake. RJS

Old75: In my younger days, when in the USAF Reserves, I would spend my 2 weeks active duty at Perrin AFB, Denison TX. We would have to do our acrobatics in flying over Broken Bow, OK. Is that anywhere close to Broken Arrow, or am I just confused? If you were around in the early 1960's, I could have waved! RJS

Jeremy: Actual experience. I was not the pilot, but was able to get qualified pilot in my office to check out a T-33, two seat trainer for doing acrobatics. Oklahoma in the south eastern part was considered to be sparsely settled enough and suitable for acrobatics.

Actually, all I ever wanted was to fly in the Air Force. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, I had an accident when I was 6 years old and had a scar on the lens of my left eye. When later in AFROTC, they would not give me a flying contract, but did commission me as a 2nd Lt. This did keep me out of a stay at the Hanoi Hilton! I came of age between Korea and Viet Nam and they didn't need pilots, I was told they didn't even need officers! RJS

My Son is in NOW. He got E-3 through BMT and 2 stripes for BMT ceremonies. He does Electrical and Environmental. His most current gig is updating Oxygen Systems on C-130s at Littlerock. He saw Midway movie and I guess the movie made it clear how important that job is. He evacuates system... replaces parts then charges systems with superheated Air to Sterilize the system before its turned back to be used. He told me during training the 🇺🇸 USAF basically tells them if you do something stupid it’s basically a hangable offense. Another buddy told me about 30 years ago... he was on day shift and the night shifters kept stealing his hot cocoa. So his crew spent one whole shift grinding up EXLAX and refilled the cocoa container. Then the whole night crew and whoever else stole the cocoa got super s...ts. There was a major investigation and never figured out but. He knew who all were stealing the cocoa. I think it’s so funny. But CID ... FBI everyone came to figure out what did it. Loose ships sink ships. I am guessing no one ever checked the cocoa or replaced it before caught.

Jeremiah: I do not know what format they might use there . Here we meet monthly, sir in a circle and limit stories to 10 min. You may have your critiques, or not. The stories can be personal experiences, fables, fairy tales, but no politics or solicitation for money. TEJAS has an annual festival with workshops and expert storytellers from all over the U S! I suggestGoogling them and asking about their program! RJS

Waved - I probably lived in Denison, Tx at the time you were at Perrin. Broken Bow is SE of Broken Arrow about 2.5 hours.
