The upper two pieces of my fly rod will not come apart, any suggestions on how to fix this?

Put it in warm or cold water. I can't remember which but I know I have done one or the other in the past

Fill a ziplock with some ice, lay the bag on the rod where the two pieces meet, wait 10 minutes, then try pulling apart. The cold should help.

Pay particular attention to the part about how to prevent the sections from sticking in the first place. I recommend nose grease. Do it every time it gets assembled.

Heat works on metal to expand it and cold should do better depending on the material. Ice bag is best idea for cold.

Sacvegdo: All the above using heat and cold should work. You might also consider WD 40. Heat and cold help to expand the metal but if it is seriously corroded and that is the cause for it freezing up, you might let the lubricant seep into the space to help. Just sayin...RJS

I’ll take that bet; how much $$$$$? It’s been discussed on here more than once recently. Lol

Behind the back works every time. That's because you're pulling perfectly straight which is nearly impossible to do when the rod is pulled at your chest. Try it.

Grease for the nose of the plane. Navy uses it on carriers.

Any good carpenter that didn't have bee's wax with him for using on screws could always rub the screw on his nose and the screw will go in easily. Try it. And I am not that old. We just improvise at times. Nose grease.

Grip with your hands while holding it behind your knees while crouching. Then force your knees apart. If it is a none metal ferrule, do you know how to properly join two sections?

I used that nose grease thing back when i was a kid. Run the ferrule on the side of your nose and it never stuck
