Well, everybody safe and alive. Went thru the ice on a track machine. Thank the Angels. We all wear Mustang Survival gear float coats and bibs. Had to pull my old buddy out of the hole. He was cold but he's ok. For all you ice zombies the $600 bucks I spent on my float gear save my life today. It will be dry by morning and ready for another trip out.

I am glad I live in Dixie, Hooray! Hoop! About the only ice I ever get and enjoy is a snow cone! You fishermen who live and love to cut holes in the ice and fish have my admiration (and sympathy)! I can no longer stand the cold. I even have to scout around in church to find some seating that doesn't have cold air blowing on my bare, bald head! I was raised not to wear your hat, or anything else on your head in doors, and especially in church.

In a youthful period of my life, I've gone out in a blue norther to fish. We would get so cold that I would take a little gas drained into a can with 1/2 full of sand, and light it to keep the fingers working, but no more. I love to fish, but hate the cold more and that trumps fishing in frigid weather. RJS

Glad to hear you don't wear your hat in church. I'm an usher in our church and I just hate it when someone is wearin their hat in church. Our preacher and some of the elders don't want us to say anything to them because they don't want to offend anyone. Well how bout all the people THEY are offending by wearin their hat.

Saw1/ when I did usher I have been guilty of tapping a guy on the shoulder and simply pointing at his sombrero! Usually worked! RJS

Good luck with retrieving the machine. Good floating gear is like a parachute or a 1911. If ever you need it and it isn't there, well, you will never need it again...

Holy crap egg! Glad your all ok. That's why I don't ice fish. Not sayin nobody should do it, but if there is one spot on ice to fall through...I would find it! Well alls well that ends well! Hope recovering your machine goes ok, be careful!

Wow Egg, that sounds horrible. I’m not a small guy and going through the ice is not something I ever want to do. I guess I’d better start saving my pennies to get some gear that floats. I’ve got a pair of insulated bibs that I really like. They keep me really warm, but I’ve realized that they may very well become an anchor if I go through.
You are, or seem to be, very casual for having gone through something that had to be awful, and could’ve been really bad. I’m glad you all came out of it okay. Good luck with the salvage mission. From what they’re saying about the weather, tomorrow (today?) could be the only day to do it for a while. If this storm they’re predicting is what they say it is, I-80 is likely to be closed for a day or two.
