Is this a young tilapia?

I fished the st John's River in Florida. Caught a couple of these...im thing young tilapia but not sure. Anyone know?

Having never seen one I can't say for sure, but I don't think so, looks like a bluegill to me. Pictures I've seen of tilapia and the ones I've seen in stores, they are much lighter than that. More silvery, like a shad.

I agree it looks like a warmouth, heck of a good fighter for there size and taste great too.

First is a war mouth second a tilapia Your's looks like a war mouth

Hungry little stump knockers line most of our creeks and rivers. Tasty shore lunch wrap in tin foil lil butter and toss on lil fire. Only if safe to eat water way?

A War mouth and a green sunfish are the most commonly mistaken for one another.
