Good morning knuckleheads. I'm probably the only ding dong up at 4 am ET. Cloudy and 41 today going to 54. Back to work. Another 12 hr stint. Have a good one everybody. If you fish today, snag one for me.

Oh, I'm a ding dong for sure. I work for the DNR, two days a week. I can work any day or anytime I want. I just have to get certain things done. Usually, I will be at work at 4:00 AM and then I'm done at 12:00 and I can go fishing or do whatever. I work from 4/15 - 10/31. It's a good job. Anyway and anyhow, it's 56* with a high of 65* a 15 to 20 MPH, gusting to 25. 20% chance of rain. The plan today is to wash the SUV go to the Kite Fest and then it should be Beer Time! That sounds like a winner to me.

Ding, I get more down the first few hours of the morning then when the rest of the day drags on. Can't wait until that getting things done includes reeling in the mornings catch.

Been retired almost 16 years and I'm still up by at least 6AM. Actually got off the couch yesterday at 26 degrees and went to the river to give the fly rod some exercise. Nothing happened in water but it felt good to be out. Just had to dip the rod in the river to get rid of ice in the guides. Glad I had my woolies on.

You just might have to stop in at the bait shop while you are there. Now that's not punishment.

Plum - remember that Army recruiting commercial - "We get more done before 8 am than most people do all day." I think that applies to us early risin' fishing types. Watcha think?

I am right there with you gh. I blame it on my construction years. Summer get it done before it gets hot. Winter get it done so you could get warmed up.

Now it seems my better catches are 1st thing in the morn.

At least no ones bothers you during those hours and you can get a lot more done. I call it my "quiet time", I can figure things out, plan my day, drink my coffee. It's a great time. 9:00 pm is my bedtime, with no naps during the day. If I take a nap, I can't fall asleep at night.
