Just posted a reply and mentioned one of my many rules of thumb. What are your rules?

I wouldn't even know where to start. Back when I was teaching biology one of my coworkers used to tell everybody that I had a saying for everything.

Earlier mentioned as an example " It's not work if you enjoy what you do."

For sure. I did remodeling as a part time job and it was like a hobby. Paid and enjoyed, can't get much better.

Say, PB; When 'Fly' said it
'sounded like too much work',
you replied that 'it's not work if
you love what you do' ! I think
he was referring to writing a
book as 'too much work', as he obviously loves fishing ! Seems like you're talking at cross purposes !

Origins of "rule of thumb": popularly thought to be an old English law which allowed a man to beat his wife, but only with a stick no wider than his thumb. Not sure if that's true or not. These days that would most likely get you shot.

Or 'cut short' - way too many Lorena Bobbitt types out there
nowadays who think that
'gelding' a male is a good idea !

Well if you're beating here with a thumb-wide stick, it just might be. Especially if she needs a whoopin that badly. Run far away from that toxic b****!

The older you get the less that becomes true because what you remember isn't always exactly as it happened. Am I wrong, old farts?
