Looking for a simple solution
I’ve got a cheap fish finder mounted on the dash that came with my Tracker. I want to install a better unit (different brand) without having to rewire. Of course the sockets don’t match. Anyone know if there’s a universal connector made? Suggestions? Running new wire from the cockpit to the stern would be a nightmare.
Monday it would be great to have additional information like the brand of fish finder that you have and what you are interested into buying. There is a chance that the you may locate a universal connector but I haven't ever used one.

If you get the same make you might be able to use same transducer, I did on my tracker. Also, if your tracker is like mine, behind the drivers side along the rail there is a cover for the wires for fish finder. If you unscrew that cover you shouldn't have that much trouble replacing the wires from unit to transducer.
Then all you have to do is attach the new transducer to the old bracket somehow. But I'm sure you could find a way.
I like "saw1" idea, you may be able to run the new cable that comes with the fish finder. Sounds like a very easy solution tom your problem says I the guy that dosen't have to do the work. Nothing like a Monday morning quarter back giving advise.
Thanks for the goo search. Always good to find new sites.
Which one came with the boat ? Why do you want to change it ? Does it give you the depth ? What's the cone angle ? The smaller the better . Flashers are still the best at giving information real time , ( a depth meter with a 10 ° cone angle would be even better ) .
The Tracker came with a Lowrance X47tx. I wanted to replace it with an upgrade without having to run new wire. My bad trying to use the same old transducer. I’m replacing the whole works with a Lowrance Hook2 5.
Ron, thanks for the info. I’ve decided best solution is to bite the bullet and dump the old unit. I also wanted a side scan unit so I’ve ordered a Lowrance Hook2-5. Running wire is gonna be fun because the stuff runs beneath the Tracker’s aluminum deck with no apparent access. Oh well...

Hey Monday, what model of tracker do you have? Mine is an 03 Pro Team 185. Along the edge of the deck behind drivers seat is a closed channel that you can unscrew that covers the wires to transducer.
Check to see if yours has one like that.
Thanks Saw, I’m gonna do that soon as the rain let’s up. But my recollection is the transducer wiring runs down a hole in the deck beside the cockpit and comes out at the stern bundled with the motor wiring. But I hope you’re right! My Tracker is a 2004 Pro 165.
I’ve got to ask you about Tracker leaks. This is my second Tracker- both bought new. The first one was a walk-through with a riveted aluminum hull. It leaked. When the welded hulls came out I traded it. This one leaks also! I’ve come off the lake with several gallons of water accumulated! I’ve narrowed it down to the live well connections which are not accessible. My cure has been to plug the stern gravity feed aperture. Have you had the same problems with your boat?

I do now. It prolly is the same problem as yours. But since it is just a few gallons at most at the end of a long day fishin, I'm not worried bout it. Sometimes I do run the bilge pump to make sure that not to much is there. It seems that it use to be dry after coming off the lake but not anymore. Also my aerator
pump has gone out and my live well doesn't aerate anymore. To change the pump is near impossible to
get to.
Damn. My next boat is gonna be a Lund. I’ve got a 40hp Merc 4 stroke that’s served me well, but enough of Tracker engineering for this cowboy.
