Underwater Camera vs. Fish Finder/Flasher

I have recently been considering getting either a fish finder or an underwater camera, and don't know which one would be more useful. The fish finder is the Garmin Striker 4 or something like that and it comes with a flasher for ice fishing, or just a regular bottom map with gps. The other option is an underwater camera, and as I have limited funds for fishing, I was hoping someone would have some solid advice.

Two different devices that can complement - but not replace - eachother. A sonar/flasher is a must-have while a camera is nice-to-have.

I use my finder 100% of the time ice fishing. Use my camera maybe 10% of the time. So I'd go finder and build up to an underwater camera

One reason that I got rid of my camera is water clarity makes it useless. Plus you can check a spot with a flasher without drilling a hole. My fl-12 has been strong for over 5 yrs

Your the fish finder, but 100% you need a sonar/sounder on a boat...

Get a fishfinder. I bought a camera several years ago I hardly use it. It’s not very efficient if water is cloudy . You don’t really want to drag a cable around under water while trying to fish anyway.

Rely on your fish finder. Underwater cameras have a very limited field of vision and unless water is crystal clear, you can only see 2 feet or less.

Fish finder/flasher is the way to go especially on the ice.

When in high school back in the early 60’s, I built a camera box with a mirror in the bottom shining up. Put the camera in and submerged it in clear water. Wasn’t the best but was fun to look into. Had fun doing that as well as other things that we take for granite today.

The Garmin Striker 4 is what I have. I bought the ice fishing kit to go with it. It’s awesome.

I have both but rarley use the camera because the screen needs to be in a shelter or itis really hard to view ( an old model so maybe the newer ones are brighter) whereas, I always take the finder while ice fishing. Even with a sled you can only cary/drag just soooo much.
