Learn to snell a hook not just tie a line to it, plenty of youtube videos and its pretty easy

Always thread your line through the 'front' of the hook (hook-point-side) - for more advanced fishing presentations (e.g. dropshot, straight-shank hook Texas rig for 'flipping' and 'punching') this is very important so your rig is pointing the right way and you get good hook sets. Additionally, always keeping the hook point oriented in the same direction (away from your palm) = less accidents. Remember, tetanus booster shot every 10 years! ;)

That is the clinch knot. I prefer the improved clinch or the palomar knots .
