I’m very new to fly fishing and have yet to actually fish. I’m still watching videos and practicing my casting lol. I’m in the Tampa Bay area and was wondering if anyone has any advice with regards to my location or just anything you could share in general that you think would be of help. I do not have a boat or kayak so for now it’s onshore at the local beaches or around the bay. Just got a Redington Crosswater 8 wt combo

You have two of the best and most active fly clubs in the state nearby: Tampa Fly Anglers and Suncoast Fly Club in St. Pete. Both are excellent resources for knowledge, gear and most importantly, other fishing buddies. The January and February meetings are the best attended with the best speakers and your first one is free. Definitely check them out

Tampa Bay, You say is very a large area, where are you located at? Gandy Bridge Tampa side by the boat ramps and St. Pete side all long the causeway by the radio towers and also north of Power Plant outfall! Philippe Park boat ramp to power tower!
You actually have a ton of options. I live in Lithia, just east of Riverview and as well do not have a boat or Kyak ( still have teenagers at home, ) lol. Yet that doesn't deter me. I am not a fly fisherman nor have any knowledge of it but I've always wanted to learn. I mainly fish inshore with artificials, and occasionally live bait, and to make up for not having a water vessel, I do a ton of wade fishing. I can get into areas that some boats or the occasional kayak can't get to, and be very stealthy in the water while doing so. A couple of areas that I fish consistently is Emerson Point Preserve UK n Palmetto, E.G Simmons Park, the Southern end of Picnic Island, along the Gandy on the Pinellas side, Weedon Island, Apollo Bch Preserve, Piney Point, Cypress Point Park just to name a few. If fishing Emerson Point you have two options. If you fish on the north side you are fishing Terra Ceia Bay. If your fishing the south side your fishing the Manatee River. All of these places I have suggested to you are large open areas that give you plenty of room to practice your casting etc, as well as possibly catching alot of fish. And BTW, Emerson Point Preserve has some huge snook and reddish. Hope this helps
