I recently purchased a 16ft, 20 yr old boat to do some lake fishing with grandkids age 10, 12, and 14. We'll be targeting pan fish for starters. I do remember the worm-hook-bobber-pole thing from my young days when a first aid kit never entered my mind. Fast forward to March of 2020 when fishing for me/us will start in late March. As a grandparent who supposedly is "in the know" about all things fishing, any suggestions on what to include in a fisherperson's First Aid Kit will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Don't forget the Pinesol. Don't go fishing without it. Welcome to the Forum, J.
Please don't forget the Bug Spray! Mosquitoes allegedly kill more people than anything else! Don't forget Tick repellent as those little buggers are responsible for the suffering of many also. Include some type of sun protection and plenty of water to stave off dehydration. With children it is better to go slow and not push them too much at first but your grandchildren are a little older and may be able to handle a longer outing. They will let you know, especially if you run out of food, pop and water!
Have fun and make many lasting memories with grandpa!!!
Have them wear light weight long sleeve shirts in the summer and before they put them on, Spray them with Cutters or Repel bug spray. Do the socks and bottoms of the pants for chiggers and ticks. The spray is in the cloth and will not "Sweat Off'. Works even when wet.
A good set of side cutters/Dykes, a needle and some anti septic. Needle for splinters. Band Aids, would be the basics for first aid kit.

Welcome to the stage Jlapan. I would recommend having a small bottle of alcohol and a small bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide. If they get stuck by a hook itโs a good idea to pour a little on the wound, then put a band aid on it. You never know what kind of impurities are in a pond or lake that might cause an infection. Get some tweezers and a small pair of side cutters to cut a hook if they get stuck by the hook. Some bug spray and sunburn spray would be good. Be sure to have them wear a life jacket at all times. Tight lines.
