I am going fishing Monday and what makes it so rare is that I am going out in my boat on a small lake. If that sounds strange it is because I live in Northeast Pa. and with it being January 13th. I should be ice fishing but with this crazy weather the lake is completely free of ice. I have been fishing since I was a little kid and by now the ice would normally be about 6 to 10 inches if not more. I quit boat fishing in late November and was either sick or busy with the holidays.I was thinking about ice fishing soon but the temperatures the last couple of weeks were so far above normal what little ice that had formed was now unsafe. I checked a little 55 acre lake just 6 miles away on Friday and it was completely covered. I checked it today and it was gone. I have never had the chance in all my years of fishing here to go out in the middle of January in a boat with zero ice on a lake. I hope to catch some bass and panfish but even if I don't at my age I want say I remember when I was boat fishing in Northeast Pa. in the middle of winter !!!
Don't take it for granted. Take it to the limit.
